Review
To do any musical on a small stage is hard and this was an
intimate production and as that it worked well, although
the music at times was not at the tempo normally associated
with some of the musical numbers, it still worked. One of
the reasons it was so enjoyable was the performance that
came from Miss Melissa Taylor this young lady brought Annie
to life and once she started she never stopped performing,
she never lost the character and her timing was spot on,
she was superb example why you don't perform with children
or animals, she defiantly stole the show.
All the other children did did their bit to make the
evening, on the adult side we had lovlgr performances from
Wyn Tootell as Miss Hannigan and Lesley Nicholson as Lily
St Regis. Oliver Franklin caine across well as Rooster and
pretty Flona Jack played the part of Grace. Barry Callander
played Warbucks with genuine warmth and it came across.
Although several of the cast played more than one part, we
had some nice cameo's which stood out, namely Ben Mayo's
Drake, Dave Maughan's touching policeman Alan Pearson's
Roosevelt and also Matt Castle' s Wacky all making this an
extremely good evenings entertainment. Congratulations to
all concerned.
