review by Colin Magenty
This pantomime was very much a curates egg; very good in
places and not so in others. We had excellent performances
from those I would expect nothing less. Ben Mayo and Brian
Clarke were, as Block and Tackle, the unwitting tools of
the evil Sheriff played extremely well by Alan Mayer. Barry
Callander, too, as the Nurse, as usual was on form.
Dave Hartley did his part well as the idiot, who just
wanted to join Robin Hood's band, and we had a
thigh-slapping Robin in the form of Zoe Duffin.
Other good performances came from Emma Boyle as "Big John"
and a superb Fairy played as well as any I have seen by
Elizabeth Stevenson. The major downside was it was played
to tape music and unfortunately the music did not seem to
gel or fit in with the pantomime itself.
But it was still an entertaining evening and the shouts
from the participating audience were no doubt payment for
all the hard work put in to the piece.
My thanks to all concerned.
