Guardian review by Karl Holbrook. 2nd May 2007
The enthusiastic cast overcame faulty microphones in the
first half to make this show a must see for music lovers.
Stella performances from local stars including Emma
Shawcross who floated between scenes from Cabaret and Blood
Brothers to Miss Saigon effortlessly, saved the producers
blushes.
Other stand out performances included Jay Rogerson and
co-director Lorraine Sullivan with Cell Block Tango from
Chicago.
Youngster Sam Thurston was outstanding as Mickey from Blood
Brothers and Amy Sumner was particularly noteworthy in her
role as Glinda from Wicked.
The dance routines were equally great, with ensemble
routines from Bombay Dreams to Moulin Rouge providing some
of the shows best moments.
The show runs at Chorley Little Theatre until Saturday.
Don't miss it!
NODA Review by Colin Magenty
This was an super evening of all that's best in musical
theatre with a cast that was a mixture of both young and
not so young, but all showing enthusiasm and energy and
providing super entertainment.
Barry Callander and Brian Clarke's "Did Ya Evah?" form High
Society got the evening off to a good start and I enjoyed
Emma Shawcross singing "Tell Me Its Not True" from Blood
Brothers. The duet by Francesca Leigh and Amy Sumner at the
end of the first half was spot on.
In the second half Emma Shawcross was again on very good
form and, together with Jay Rogerson, gave us some
delightful moments. Throughout the show, the dancing was of
a very high standard. Thank you all for a smashing evening.
Well done!
